A Dream Come True

My dream began as a young boy growing up in Chino Valley, Arizona - the dream of one day flying airplanes. One of my greatest memories as a child was flying from Prescott to Phoenix on a twin-engine turbo prop (Bonanza Airlines) in 1963. What a thrill! After a 20-year career with the Prescott Fire Department I have been blessed to see my dream become a reality. February 2004 marked the beginning of my Private Pilot Certification with SKYschool in Prescott, Arizona. The combination of professionalism and top-notch instructors along with a family friendly atmosphere made my training enjoyable. By June 2004 I had obtained the first in the line of licenses - my private pilot certification. In August 2004 I began my Instrument training. Flying without 'seeing' was definitely a new experience for me and I have to say that the instrument rating was the hardest flight- training I went through to date. In my opinion, this made me a much better pilot and I was able to complete this portion of my training successfully in December 2004.Next came the Single Engine Commercial training. By far the most fun of all my ratings, particularly the commercial maneuvers. In March 2005 I passed my Commercial check ride and then continued on to work on my Multi-Engine Instrument Commercial add-on. Flying a twin-engine plane is a blast - when you get to use both engines. The most challenging thing about this segment of training is flying on one engine. Finishing my multi-engine check ride in July 2005 it took me about 18 months from the beginning of training to this point. It has taken a lot of work, dedication and perseverance but has been well worth it. Throughout all of my training at SKYschool the staff and instructors remained positive and supportive - when things were going well as well as when they were going poorly. Because of the excellent instruction I received at SKYschool I am now able to continue my quest at GulfStream Academy where I will be learning to fly multi-engine turboprops.Thank you to everyone at SKYschool for being such an intricate part of this new direction in my life.Sincerely,

Jeff Moore
